4.1.4.1 General

4.5.4 Protection against inadvertent re-engagement in case of mechanical elements stopped by
blockage Automatic restarting of hazardous movement following clearance of a blockage by an operator in the hazard zone shall be prevented. A restart shall require the intentional actuation of a control outside the hazard zone (e.g. torque limiter reset which require a complete stop of the PTO to be re-engaged).
4.6 Mixing and/or chopping device
4.6.1 Protection against contact with moving parts
4.6.1.1 General
Unless otherwise stated in 4.6, safety distances for protection against contact with moving parts shall comply with the safety distances of EN ISO 13857:2019, Tables 1, 3, 4 and 6 when cutting and loading tools are in the position for mixing and/or chopping and/or the loading door is closed.
Verification: shall be by measurement.
When cutting tool guards, loading tools, or the loading door, are in open position (e.g. loading door open), requirements of 4.6.1.2 apply.
4.6.1.2 Machine with cutting and loading tools or with loading door
4.6.1.2.1 Measures shall be taken to protect the operator against contact, entanglement and drawing-in hazards generated by the moving mixing and/or chopping device when cutting and loading tools or loading door are in the loading position (e.g. loading door open).BS EN 703 pdf download.
