This standard describes the manufacture of reinforced concrete cylinder pipe in sizes 30 in. to 144 in. (760 mm to 3,660 mm), inclusive. Larger sizes have been manufactured based on the concepts of this standard. Tis type of pipe is designed for the internal pressure, external loads, and bedding conditions designated by the purchaser. Tis standard does not include requirements for design, handling, delivery, laying, feld testing, or disinfection of pipe. Refer to AWWA Manual M9, Concrete Pressure Pipe, for information on these topics.
1.1.1 Essential requirements. Te pipe shall have the following principal features: a welded steel cylinder with steel joint rings welded to its ends; a reinforc- ing cage or cages of steel bars, wire, or welded wire reinforcement; a wall of con- crete encasing the steel cylinder and reinforcing cage or cages inside and outside of the steel cylinder; and a joint with a preformed gasket of rubber, designed so that the joint will be watertight under all conditions of service.
4.2.1 Drawings. Te purchaser shall provide the constructor with plans and profles showing: (1) alignment and grades; (2) the locations of all outlets, con- nections, and special appurtenances; (3) working, feld-test, and surge pressures for each part of the pipeline; and (4) special details; or shall otherwise provide the constructor with information necessary for the design and manufacture of the pipe and fttings in accordance with this standard and with the specifc requirements of the work for which the pipe is made. Tis information shall be provided suf- fciently in advance of scheduled installations to allow for subsequent pipe design and manufacture.
4.2.2 Design data. Te purchaser shall specify the working pressure, feld-test pressure, and transient conditions applicable to each reach of pipeline for which the pipe shall be manufactured. Te purchaser shall also specify the external loading conditions and the method, or methods, of bedding and backflling.
4.2.3 Design responsibility. Te purchaser is responsible for the overall concept and design of the pipeline project, including supporting structures. Te manufacturer is responsible for supplying pipe in accordance with the purchaser’s criteria as defned in Sec. 4.2.1 and 4.2.2.AWWA C300-16 pdf download.
