AWWA C706-10 pdf download.Direct-Reading, Remote-Registration Systems for Cold-Water Meters
AWWA C706-10 can be referenced in documents for purchasing and receiving cold-water meters for water utility customer service and can be used as a guide for fabricating and assembling direct-reading, remote-registration systems for cold- water meters. Te stipulations of this standard apply when this document has been referenced and then only to direct-reading, remote-registration systems for cold- water meters for water supply service applications.
4.2.4.1 Display. Te remote-counter assembly shall be capable of dis- playing a direct numeral duplication of at least the three most significant meter-registration digits on the 5 / 8 -in. (16-mm) meters and at least the four most signifcant meter-registration digits on meters larger than 5 / 8 in. (16 mm).
4.2.4.2 Durability. Te remote-counter assembly shall be constructed so that moisture or ambient temperature variations ranging from –40°F (–40°C) to 150°F (66°C) will not afect its operation or accuracy.
4.2.4.3 Tamper resistance. Te remote-counter assembly shall be tamper- resistant. Cover-retaining appurtenances on the assembly shall be of the concealed type with provisions for a seal wire or other means to detect unauthorized entrance.
4.2.4.4 Reset capability. Registration at the remote-counter assembly shall be capable of being reset to coincide with the meter-register assembly.
4.2.4.5 Numeral size. Te remote-counter assembly shall incorporate a straight-reading-type display with numerals of not less than 3 / 16 in. (4.8 mm) in height, or it shall be provided with magnifcation of the numerals so that they are equivalent to not less than 3 / 16 in. (4.8 mm) in height, with contrasting colors to be easily legible.
4.2.4.7 Identifcation number. If required by the purchaser, provisions shall be made for imprinting or afxing a customer number or meter number at the remote-counter assembly, visible from the normal viewing angle of the assembly.
4.2.5 Accuracy. Te system shall be synchronized to allow no cumulative error between the meter-register reading and the remote indication. Te meter- register assembly and the remote-counter assembly shall be designed to operate together as a system. To ensure optimum performance, the meter-register assembly and remote-counter assembly should be provided by the same manufacturer.
Warning: To minimize operational problems, the purchaser is cautioned to avoid mixing meter-register assemblies and remote-counter assemblies made by diferent manufacturers.
