4.3 Electric strikes and frame mounted actuators shall meet the requirements of UL Standard 1034, and be SO listed or labeled by a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL). Monitor switches shall be listed by a Nationally Recognized Test Laboratory.
4.4 For electric strikes and actuators operating in excess of 42.5VAC rms, 30 VDC peak. manufacturers instruction sheets shall require the use of a junction box in accordance with the National Electrical Code ANSL/NFPA 70.
4.5 Electric strikes and actuators used for fire doors shall be tested in accordance with UL 1OC, and be so labeled or listed by a NRTL.
4.6 If a suppressor is required to meet the Inductive Kickback Test, the suppressor shall be installed in the product, or the suppressor and installation instructions shall be supplied with the product by the manufacturer.
4.7 Values Required values in this Standard are given in US units. The SI (metric) equivalents are approximate. All values which do not carry specific tolerances or are not marked maximum or minimum shall have the following tolerances: Linear dimensions shall be ± 1/16 in. (1.6 mm). Pounds or pound force shall be ± 5%. Angular measurements shall be ± 4 degrees. Voltage measurements shall be ± 5 percent. Temperature measurements shall be ± 4 degrees F (±2 degrees C).

5. PERFORMANCE TESTS
5.1 Use three samples total, one for the preload and cycle tests, one for the static and dynamic tests, and one for the inductive kickback test. Every combination of handing, fail safe, fail secure, fail maintained, and each voltage shall be tested separately.
5.2 Pre-Loaded Release Test (optional). This test is to be conducted before the Cycle Test and repeated after completion of the Cycle Test as stipulated below. Apply the selected force (from 5.2.3), perpendicular to the door in the direction of the door swing at a point 1 in. (25.4 mm) +1- 1/16 in. (1.6 mm) from the lock edge of the door and on the vertical centerline of the strike. With the applied load against the electric strike keeper, the strike shall release the latch in accordance with the conditions below. Breakage of the strike, failure to release, or failure to relock after release, constitutes failure of this test.
5.2.1 Fail Secure Model
5.2. 1 . 1 Before Cycle Load the door to the selected fbrce and energize the electric strike at its nominal rated voltage. The electric strike shall release the latch within I second. Perlhrm five times.
5.2. 1.2 After Cycle Load the door to 85% of the selected force and energize the electric strike at 85% of its rated voltage. The electric strike shall release the latch within 1 second. Perform five times.BHMA A156-31 pdf download.
