3 Definitions ;
The following definitions apply in this Standard:
Active mode一a mode in which the clothes washer is connected to a mains power source, has been activated, and is performing one or more of the main functions of washing, soaking, tumbling, agitating,rinsing, and/or removing water from the clothing or is involved in functions necessary for these main functions, such as admitting water into the washer or pumping water out of the washer.
Note: Active mode also includes delay start and cycle finished modes.
Active washing mode一a mode in which the clothes washer is performing any of the operations included in a complete cycle intended for washing a clothing load, including the main functions of washing, soaking, tumbling, agitating, rinsing, and/ or removing water from the clothing.
Adaptive control system - a clothes washer control system, other than an adaptive water fill control system, that is capable of automatically adjusting washer operation or washing conditions based on characteristics of the clothes load placed in the clothes container, without allowing or requiring user intervention or action.
Note: The automatic adjustments can, for example, include automatic selection, modification, or contro/ of any of the following:
a) wash water temperature;
b) agitation or tumble cycle time;
c) number of rinse cycles; and spin speed.
An example of the characteristics of the clothes load that could trigger such adjustments is the presence of soil,soap suds, or another additive laundering substitute or complementary product.
Adaptive water fill control system一a clothes washer water fill control system that is capable of automatically adjusting the water fill level based on the size or weight of the clothes load placed in the clothes container, without allowing or requiring user intervention or action.
Automatic clothes washer一a clothes washer that has a control system capable of regulating the water temperature and other operations, such as the water fill level and performance of wash, rinse,drain, and spin functions, without the need for user intervention subsequent to the initiation of machine operation. These models are divided into
a) non-water-heating clothes washers; and
b) water-heating clothes washers.
Basic model - all units of a given type of product (or class thereof) manufactured by one manufacturer that have the same energy source, identical electrical characteristics, and no differing physical or functional characteristics that affect energy consumption.
Bone-dry一a condition of a load of test cloth that has been dried in a dryer set at the maximum temperature for a minimum of 10 min, removed and weighed before cool-down, and then dried again for 10 min periods until the final weight change of the load is 1% or less.CAN CSA C360-13 pdf download.
