4.13.1 Marking material shall be identified by class number and shall meet the following specifications. All metal marking materials shall be rustproof. All marking shall be suitable for application to surfaces upon which applied and shall demonstrate suitable legibility, as specified under Clause 5.14, Marking material adhesion and legibility. The designation of any class of marking shall not preclude the use of marking of a lower number class.
Method of Test
The heater shall have been operated at normal input for at least 1 hour before being subjected to the following tests.
The heater incorporating the maximum system conditions shall be tested in an adequately sized room constructed so as to prevent infiltration of air. The heater shall be operated outside the room for 15 minutes at increased inlet test pressure. Immediately after the heating-up period, the heater shall be placed in the room and continued in operation with the door sealed.
This test shall be conducted at increased inlet test pressure, except when a pressure regulation device is provided, in which case the test shall be conducted at the maximum input rating obtained in the range of reduced through increased inlet test pressures.
A sample of the room atmosphere shall be withdrawn at the start of the test and analyzed for oxygen or carbon dioxide and hydrocarbon emissions. During the test, sufficient samples shall be withdrawn and analyzed for oxygen or carbon dioxide to permit accurate determination of the end point of the test specified.
A sample of the room atmosphere shall be withdrawn when the oxygen concentration in the room reaches 19.4 percent (1.0 percent carbon dioxide) by volume corrected to 60°F (15.6 C) and 30.0 inches mercury. This sample shall be analyzed for hydrocarbon emission, which shall not exceed a 500 ppm concentration.
This test shall be repeated with the heater operated at the reduced inlet test pressure, except when a pressure regulation device is provided, in which case the test shall be conducted at the minimum input rating obtained in the range of reduced through increased inlet test pressures.
The heater shall then be removed from the room and operated at normal input rate for 100 hours. This operating time shall consist of operating periods of approximately 8 hours each, followed by non-operating periods of at least 16 hours. The above emission tests shall then be repeated and the heater shall comply with the hydrocarbon emission limits specified.
All of the above tests shall then be conducted on the heater incorporating the minimum system conditions, and the heater shall comply with the hydrocarbon emission limits specified. If the heater is equipped with a valve intended for variable heat control, the test unit incorporating the minimum system conditions shall be adjusted to the nominal low input setting of the heat control and tested as noted above, except for the 100 hour operation and retest. The heater shall comply with the hydrocarbon emission limits specified.CSA 11.3 pdf download.
