4.6.2 The instructions shall include, as a minimum, statements to the effect that:
a) the gas outlet must be in the same room as the gas-fired equipment and the connector must not be concealed within or run through any wall, floor, or partition;
b) all parts of the union supplied with the connector must be used, and no attempt shall be made to assemble union nuts directly to pipe threads;
c) the connector must not be kinked, twisted, or torqued;
d) connectors are for use only on piping systems having fuel gas pressures not in excess of 1/2 psi (3.5 kPa);
e) for moveable appliance installation (e.g., appliances factory-equipped with casters), flexing and bending should be limited to the needs of pulling and pushing the appliance in and out for cleaning, maintenance, or installation;
f) contact with foreign objects or substances must be avoided;
g) an accessible manual shutoff valve must be installed at the outlet of the gas supply piping system upstream of the connector;
h) the final assembly must be tested for leaks;
CAUTION: Matches, candles, open flame, or other sources of ignition shall not be used for this purpose. Leak test solutions may cause corrosion. i) the connector complies with the Standard for Connectors for Moveable Gas Appliances,ANSI Z21.69/CSA 6. 16; and
j) the following warning in a 10-point font:“Connector is for use on the original appliance at the original location only. DO NOT REUSE connector when an appliance is being replaced or moved to a different location." Moving the appliance within the same kitchen footprint is acceptable for using the same connector.
4.7.2 Removable end fittings, other than manual valves, or quick disconnect devices or union end pieces, of a connector shall be stamped, etched, or otherwise permanently marked with the connector manufacturer's recognizable trademark or symbol. Manual valves, quick disconnect devices, and three-part unions shall bear the marking of the valve, or device or union manufacturer(s).
The applied pressure shall be maintained for 15 minutes. If no bursting or leaking occurs during this period, this provision shall be deemed met. This test shall be applied to each nominal diameter, type,and material of connector submitted for examination under this Standard.CSA 6.16 pdf download.
