CSA 6.26:2016 pdf download.Fuel gas piping systems using corrugated stainless steel tubing
1.1 CSA 6.26 applies to fuel gas piping systems using corrugated stainless steel tubing (CSST), intended for installation in residential, commercial or industrial buildings, and including the following components as a minimum:
a) Corrugated stainless steel tubing (CSST);
b) Fittings for connection to the CSST; and
c) Striker plates (see Clause 3, Definitions) to protect the installed CSST from puncture threats.
Other components of piping systems covered by this Standard include gas manifolds, gas pressure regulators, manual gas valves, quick-disconnect devices and gas convenience outlets (see Clauses 4.3,Gas pressure regulators, 4.4, Manually operated gas valves and 4.5, Quick-disconnect devices and gas convenience outlets). If such additional components are required to complete the piping system installation, they are either provided as part of the piping system or specified in the manufacturer'S installation instructions (see Clause 4.7-m).
1.2 This Standard also applies to corrugated stainless steel piping systems in which portions of the piping are exposed to the outdoors as required to make connections to outdoor gas meters or to outdoor gas appliances, which are attached to, mounted on or located in close proximity to the building structure.
4.1.4 The manufacturer shall supply evidence acceptable to the testing agency that all materials have been evaluated and found to be suitable for their intended usage. Test data based on ASTM or other appropriate test procedures, certifications, or historical data shall be submitted for this purpose. The evidence shall show that the materials have been evaluated, as appropriate, for resistance to moisture,corrosion, the effects of general household chemicals, and the effects of fuel gases, including sulfur compounds therein, and that nonmetallic materials exposed to the atmosphere are suitably resistant to the effects of ozone.
4.1.5 The manufacturer shall provide to the testing agency documented evidence that tubing and fitting components have been subjected to the Standard Practice for Operating Salt Spray (Fog) Apparatus, ASTM B117, for not less than 96 hours without evidence of pitting, flaking, cracking, or signs of corrosive attack.
4.1.6 The color of the tubing coating, jacket,or covering shall be either yellow. A jacket or covering applied to the tubing shall be either yellow or black, and marked in a contrasting color.
4.1.7 For tubing which includes a coating, jacket,or covering, the manufacturer shall supply evidence acceptable to the testing agency that the coating, jacket, or covering has been tested for flame spread and smoke density as specified in the Test Method for Surface Burning Characteristics of Building Materials, ASTM E84,or the Standard Method of Testing for Surface Burning Characteristics of Building Materials and Assemblies, CAN/ULC S102- -10, or equivalent.
