CSA C22.2-NO.206:2017 pdf download.Lighting poles
1.1 CSA C22.2-NO.206 applies to free-standing poles of ferrous metal, aluminum, polymeric, concrete, fibre reinforced structures, and wood, and to their accessories, for use in the support of lighting equipment having ratings of 600 V and less, and intended to be installed in the commercial and industrial nonhazardous locations in accordance with the Rules of the Canadian Electrical Code, Part 1.
1.2 This Standard applies to poles used for the support of lighting equipment, such as luminaires, electric signs, and traffic lights. The poles may also serve as supports for aerial conductors, PV modules, and wind turbines used to supply the lighting equipment and, in the case of concrete or metal poles,provide wireways for conductors entering the poles.
1.3 This Standard applies to the electrical features of poles as well as to the mechanical strength aspects and the ability to support their design loads.
7.4 Concrete poles (including prestressed poles), in addition to the requirements specified in Clause 7.1,shall comply with the requirements of CAN/CSA-A14. The minimum thicknesses of aluminum pole supports of closed cross-section shall be 3.0 mm.
Note: Pole support thicknesses of less than 4.76 mm to the minimum of 3 mm are only expected to occur for lighting or surveillance poles with heights of 12.2 m or less combined with mast arm lengths of 2.4 m or less, and for traffic signal poles with heights of 3.6 m or less and no mast arms.
7.5 Concrete poles (including prestressed poles), in addition to the requirements specified in Clause 7.1,shall comply with the requirements of CAN/CSA-A14.
7.6 Poles made of fibre-reinforced composite, concrete, or polymer, in addition to the requirements specified in Clause 7.1, shall comply with the requirements of CSA S6.
8.1 Poles shall be plainly marked, in a permanent manner, in a position where the details will be readily visible after installation, but not on a removable panel. Marking shall comply with the applicable pole type requirements of the CSA Standards specified in Clause 7. Where no marking requirements are specified in the Standards specified in Clause 7, the following minimum marking requirements shall apply:
a) manufacturer's name, trademark, trade name, or other recognized symbol of identification;
b) year of manufacture; and
c) model number.
8.2 If the metallic poles are to be marked before the final stage in the manufacturing process (e.g.,galvanizing, powder coating) the recommended minimum depth or height and width of the writing shall be 0.5 mm to allow for coatings that may be applied.
To prevent cracking or high stress concentrations, pin and pressed stamp type marking operations shall produce a low stress marking.CSA C22.2-NO.206 pdf download.
