CSA C22.2-No.250.1:2016 pdf download.Retrofit kits for luminaire conversion
6.4.1 Conductors of different class circuits, such as LED Class 2, Class 2, SELV, and branch circuit, that come into random contact with each other (including wires in the same cable, raceway, or enclosure) shall
a) have insulation rated for the highest of the circuit voltages;
b) be separated by a minimum of 6.4 mm (0.25 in); or
c) be permanently separated by the proper routing of the conductors within the unit, or by the effective use of barriers, clamps, or equivalent separation.
6.4.2 A barrier used to separate different class circuits, as described in Clause 6.4.1, shall be made of a
a) 0.4 mm (0.016 in) or thicker metal bonded to other grounded parts of the luminaire;
b) 0.7 mm (0.028 in) or thicker vulcanized fibre;
c) 0.25 mm (0.010 in) or thicker impregnated glass fibre sleeving rated for subjected temperature;
d) 3 mm (0.118 in) or thicker glass or ceramic; or
e) 0.7 mm (0.028 in) or thicker moulded polymeric material rated for subjected temperature.
7 Tests
The combination of a retrofitted luminaire with the installation of a retrofit kit installed in accordance with the installation instructions of the kit shall comply with applicable requirements of CSA C22.2 No. 250.0. In determining compliance, at least the following shall be verified:
a) Wiring on or within luminaires is neatly arranged without excess wiring and is not exposed to mechanical damage; and the conductors are arranged so that they are not subjected to temperatures above those for which they are rated.
b) Luminaires, lampholders, and associated equipment are installed so that no live part is accessible or exposed.
c) Feeder and branch-circuit conductors within 75 mm (3 in) of an LED driver, power supply, or adjacent light source have an insulation temperature rating not lower than 90 °C (194°F), unless it is determined by the applicable temperature test in Clause 14 of CSA C22.2 No. 250.0 that a lower conductor temperature rating is suitable.
d) If provided, splices and taps for the installation of auxiliary devices are enclosed.
e) The converted luminaire is capable of being installed so that the connections between the luminaire conductors and the branch circuit conductors can be inspected without disconnecting any part of the wiring unless the connection uses a plug and receptacle.
f) Grounding and bonding means comply with Clause 6.1.
g) There is separation of conductors of different class circuits, such as LED Class 2, Class 2, and branch circuits, in accordance with Clause 6.4.
h) Markings and instructions are as specified in Clause 8.CSA C22.2-No.250.1 pdf download.
