CSA C743-09:2014 pdf download.Performance Standard for rating packaged water chillers
1.7 In CSA Standards, "shall" is used to express a requirement, i.e., a provision that the user is obliged to satisfy in order to comply with the standard; "should" is used to express a recommendation or that which is advised but not required; "may" is used to express an option or that which is permissible within the limits of the standard; and "can”is used to express posibility or capability. Notes accompanying clauses do not include requirements or alternative requirements; the purpose of a note accompanying a clause is to separate from the text explanatory or informative material. Notes to tables and figures are considered part of the table or figure and may be written as requirements. Annexes are designated normative (mandatory) or informative (non-mandatory) to define their application.
5.8.3.2 IPLV and NPLV values for positive displacement reciprocating, scroll, and small screw chillers unable to unload to 25% shall be calculated as follows:
(a) If the unit cannot be operated at 75%, 50%, or 25% capacity, it shall be operated at other load points, and the 75%, 50%, or 25% capacity efficiencies shall be determined by plotting efficiency versus percentage load and using straight line segments to connect the actual performance points. The 75%, 50%, or 25% load efficiencies shall then be determined from the plot. Extrapolation shall not be used. An actual chiller capacity point equal to or less than the required rating point shall be used to determine each load efficiency. For example, if the minimum actual capacity is 33%, then the curve shall be used to determine the 50% capacity point, but not the 25% capacity point.
5.8.4 Individual part-load data points shall be presented in terms of percentage of rated power input versus percentage of rated capacity. Water temperatures shall be adjusted for field fouling allowance in accordance with ARI 550/590, Appendix C. Individual points shall be based on the part-load conditions specified in Tables 5, 6, 7, or 8, as applicable. If published and not otherwise stated, individual part-load points shall be based on the IPLV conditions specified in Tables 5 and 6.
5.9.3 Absorption chillers
Application ratings shall be as follows:
(a) leaving chilled water temperature- 4.4 to 8.9 °C (40 to 48°F), in increments of 1.1 °C (2°F) or less;
(b) entering absorber and condenser water temperature一26.7 to 32.2 °C (80 to 90°F), in increments of 2.8°C (5°F) or less;
(C) absorber and condenser water flow rate limit- 0.05 to 0.11 L/s per kW (2.8 to 6.0 US gpm/ton);
(d) evaporator-specific chilled water flow rate limit一0.03 to 0.05 L/s per kW (1.6 to 3.0 US gpm/ton);
(e) heating water specific flow rate (double-effect heating cycle)一manufacturer's standard L/s per kW (US gpm/ton);
(f) steam pressure (at steam valve or inlet header of a single-stage unit)一0 to 103.4 kPa gauge (0 to 15.0 psig), in increments of 14 kPa (2.0 psi) or less (as specified by the manufacturer);
(g) steam pressure (at steam valve or inlet header of a two-stage unit)一0 to 861 .9 kPa gauge (0 to 125 psig), in increments of 103.4 kPa (15.0 psi) or less (as specified by the manufacturer); and
(h) hot water (to generator) entering temperature一82.2 to 204.4。C (180 to 400°F).CSA C743-09 pdf download.
