CSA C749-15:2020 pdf download.Energy performance of dehumidifiers
1.3 The values given in SI units are the units of record for the purposes of this Standard. The values given in parentheses are for information and comparison only.
1.4 In this Standard, "shal" is used to express a requirement, i.e., a provision that the user is obliged to satisfy in order to comply with the standard;“should" is used to express a recommendation or that which is advised but not required; and "may" is used to express an option or that which is permissible within the limits of the Standard.
Notes accompanying clauses do not include requirements or alternative requirements; the purpose of a note accompanying a clause is to separate from the text explanatory or informative material.
Notes to tables and figures are considered part of the table or figure and may be written as requirements.
Annexes are designated normative (mandatory) or informative (non-mandatory) to define their application.
3 Definitions
The following definitions shall apply in this Standard:
Active mode一a mode in which a dehumidifier is connected to a mains power source, has been activated, and is performing the main functions of removing moisture from air by drawing moist air over a refrigerated coil using a fan, or circulating air through activation of the fan without activation of the refrigeration system.
Capacity一a measure of the ability of a dehumidifier to remove moisture from its surrounding atmosphere, expressed in litres of moisture removed over 24 h of continuous operation.
Combined low-power mode一the aggregate of available modes other than active mode.
Dehumidifier一a self-contained, electrically operated, mechanically encased assembly consisting of
a) a refrigerated surface (evaporator) on which moisture from the atmosphere condenses;
b) a refrigerating system, including an electric motor;
c) an air-circulating fan; and
d) a means for collecting and/or disposing of the condensate.
Energy factor (EF)一a measure in L/kW.h of the energy efficiency of a dehumidifier, calculated by dividing the water removed from the air by the energy consumed.
Note: Annual combined low power mode energy consumption is not included in the EF calculation.
Inactive mode一a standby mode that facilitates the activation of active mode by remote switch (including remote control), internal sensor, or timer, or that provides continuous status display.
Off mode一a mode in which the dehumidifier is connected to a mains power source and is not providing any active mode or standby mode function, and where the mode may persist for an indefinite time.
Note: An indicator that only shows the user that the dehumidifier is in the off position is included within the classification of an off mode.CSA C749-15 pdf download.
