oil of amyris : The oil obtained by steam distillation of the wood of Amyris balsamifera Linnaeus grown in the area bordering on the Carribean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico.

Pale yellow to amber.

Characteristic, woody.

4.6 Optical rotation at 20 °C Range : + 100 to + 60°
4.7 Miscibility with 90% (V/V) ethanol at 20°C
The miscibility with 90% (V/V) ethanol shall be 1 volume in 1 volume to give a clear solution, sometimes with opalescence on dilution.
