4.1.3 Fabricated stainless-steel repair clamp bands. Fabricated stainless- steel bands shall be made from material that meets or exceeds the requirements of ASTM A240.
4.1.4 Lugs. Stainless-steel lugs shall be made from material that meets or exceeds the requirements of ASTM A240, ASTM A743, or ASTM A744. Cast ductile-iron lugs shall be made from material that meets or exceeds the require- ments of ASTM A536. Ductile iron shall be coated to mitigate corrosion.
4.1.5 Gaskets.
4.1.5.1 Composition and physical requirements. Gaskets shall be molded or extruded natural or synthetic rubber free of porous areas and visible defects. Reclaimed rubber shall not be used. Gaskets shall be suitable for water service to 150°F (65°C).
4.1.5.2 Gaskets for the body of the repair clamp shall meet the require- ments of ASTM D2000 and have, as a minimum, physical properties sufcient to satisfy the design requirements of Sec. 4.2.
4.1.5.3 Special service requirements. Where service conditions difer from those described in this standard, special gasket material may be required. Te purchaser shall specify these service conditions at the time of inquiry or order.
4.1.6 Fasteners. Bolts, nuts, and washers shall be of similar metallic mate- rials to minimize the possibility of galvanic corrosion. Advice from a qualifed cor- rosion engineer is recommended.
4.2.1 General. Te full-encirclement stainless-steel repair clamp shall consist of a stainless-steel band(s) ftted on the interior with a 360-degree elasto- meric seal. Te repair clamp includes an integrated lug and bolting system. Tight- ening the fasteners compresses the gasket(s) between the band(s) and pipe, creating a full-circumferential seal on the outside diameter of the pipe to be repaired.
4.2.3 Fasteners. Fasteners shall be headed or nonheaded rods, threaded as required. Bolt heads may be, but are not limited to, track head or hexagonal head. Hexagonal heads shall be heavy hex in accordance with ASME B18.2.1 or ASME B18.2.3.7M. Carriage heads shall be in accordance with ASME B18.5 or ASME B18.5.2.1M.
