CAN CSA C361-16:2021 pdf download.Energy performance and drum volume of household electric clothes dryers
1 Scope
1.1 CAN CSA C361-16 covers electrically operated household clothes dryers and specifies two separate energy performance test methods. The first procedure relies on operator intervention to manually end the test;the second procedure relies on the dryer's automated termination control. This Standard also specifies minimum energy efficiency levels.
1.2 This Standard applies to electrically operated household tumble-type clothes dryers, compact and standard, designed for a 60 Hz ac supply with a nominal system voltage of 120, 120/240, or 120/208 V.
1.3 This Standard does not cover gas clothes dryers.
Note: For requirements for gas clothes dryers, see CSA P.5.
14 In this Standard, "shall" is used to express a requirement, that is, a provision that the user is obliged to satisfy in order to comply with the standard;“should" is used to express a recommendation or that which is advised but not required; and“may" is used to express an option or that which is permissible within the limits of the standard.
Notes accompanying clauses do not include requirements or alternative requirements; the purpose of a note accompanying a clause is to separate from the text explanatory or informative material.
Notes to tables and figures are considered part of the table or figure and may be written as requirements.
3 Definitions
The following definitions shall apply in this Standard:
Active mode一a mode in which the clothes dryer is connected to a main power source, has been activated, and is performing the main function of tumbling the clothing, with or without heated or unheated forced air circulation, to remove moisture or wrinkles from the clothing or to prevent wrinkling of the clothing, or both.
Automatic termination control一a dryer control system with a sensor that monitors either the dryer load temperature or its moisture content, and with a controller that automatically terminates the drying process. Dryers classified as having an automatic termination control have a mark or detent or other visual indicator that indicates a preferred automatic termination control setting.
Note: A mark is a visible, single control setting on one or more dryer controls.
Automatic termination control dryer一a clothes dryer that can be preset to carry out at least one sequence of operations to be terminated by means of a system assessing, directly or indirectly, the moisture content of the load.
Note: From 10 CFR Part 430, Subpart B.
Basic model一all clothes dryers manufactured by one manufacturer that have the same primary energy source, essentially identical electrical characteristics, and no differing physical or functional characteristics that affect energy consumption.
Bone-dry一a condition of a load of test cloth that has been dried in a dryer at maximum temperature for a minimum of 10 min, removed, and had its mass determined before cool-down, and then dried again for 10 min periods until the final mass change of the load is 1% or less.Conventional clothes dryer一a clothes dryer that exhausts the evaporated moisture from the cabinet.CAN CSA C361-16 pdf download.
