CSA B128.3-12:2018 pdf download.Performance of non-potable water reuse systems
1.3 CSA B128.3-12 specifies two different levels (Class A and Class B) of treated reclaimed water quality. The requirements of Class A are more stringent than those of Class B (see Clause 5.9.1). The authorities having jurisdiction are responsible for determining the appropriate class of reclaimed water for each non-potable purpose.
1.4 In CSA standards, "shall" is used to express a requirement, i.e., a provision that the user is obliged to satisfy in order to comply with the standard; "should" is used to express a recommendation or that which is advised but not required; and "may" is used to express an option or that which is permissible within the limits of the standard.
Notes accompanying clauses do not include requirements or alternative requirements; the purpose of a note accompanying a clause is to separate from the text explanatory or informative material.
Notes to tables and figures are considered part of the table or figure and may be written as requirements.
Annexes are designated normative (mandatory) or informative (nonmandatory) to define their application.
4.13 Diversion
To prevent untreated or partially treated reclaimed water from entering the reclaimed water supply system, package plants shall have a diverter that automatically diverts treated wastewater or greywater (as applicable) in the event of a malfunction or failure.
Note: Package plant diverters generally divert wastewater, greywater, or reclaimed water (see Clause 4. 14) to a municipal or on-site sanitary sewerage system. Alternatively, the wastewater, greywater, or reclaimed water can be held on site until the package plant is operational again.
4.14 Overflow
In the event that the package plant's storage capacity is reached, there shall be an overflow pipe to discharge the excess water. The capacity of the overflow pipe shall be equal to or greater than the capacity of the inlet pipe. The overflow pipe shall be directly connected to the municipal or on-site sanitary sewerage system or connected to the system by another means acceptable to the authority having jurisdiction.
5.1.2 Performance testing shall be optional for larger package plants within the 10 000 L/d (2650 gal/d) scope of this Standard if they are within the same model series as the package plant being tested (i.e., the specimen) and their dimensions, hydraulic characteristics, mixing and filtering capabilities, and other applicable design characteristics are proportionately equivalent to those of the test specimen.
5.2.3 Operation and maintenance during testing
During testing, the specimen shall be operated in accordance with the manufacturer's operating instructions. However, notwithstanding the manufacturer's instructions, routine maintenance shall not be performed on the specimen during the first six months of the test period, except for replenishing liquids or dissolving consumables such as chlorine. Such maintenance work shall be recorded by test facility personnel. CSA B128.3-12 pdf download.
