4.2.2.1 External systems or elements that are detachable from the full body harness (non-integral)
All harness connections to systems or elements that are external and non-integral to the full body harness shall be by Class I connector as specified in CSA Z259.12.
4.2.2.2 External systems or elements that are integral
Where a full body harness is integrally connected to a fall-arrest system or element, that system or element shall meet the requirements of the applicable CSA Z259 series standard.
4.3 Keeper
All webbing strap ends with a free end shall have a keeper loop of the required size or other means to reduce the possibility of accidental disengagement of the strap from its functioning position.
4.4 Fall-arrest indicators
Full body harnesses shall include a built-in fall-arrest indicator that activates to give a permanent,readily visible warning after the full body harness has arrested a fall (or has been subjected to an equivalent force). See Clause 5.4 for indicator activation requirements.
4.5 Backstrap
All full body harnesses shall permanently incorporate a waist belt or a back strap, or other means of controlling the separation of the shoulder straps on the back of the full body harness. When the full body harness is mounted onto the test torso in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions, some portion of the back strap or waist belt should be located between the datum levels G and K on the test torso as shown in Figure 7.
4.13 Class R一Arc-resistant
Class R full body harnesses are designed to provide protection for workers who could be exposed to thermal hazards of momentary electric arc or flame. In addition to the connector required for Class A,Class R may be included with any other class configurations permitted by this Standard.
Figure 6 ilustrates an application of Class R full body harness in pictogram form. This image is displayed on the full body harness [see Clause 7.1 e)].
4.14 Alternative materials and construction
Products having alternative materials or forms of construction to those described in this Standard shall be acceptable, provided that testing demonstrates that these materials or forms of construction meet the requirements of this Standard and that the durability, reliability, and other properties pertinent to the intended use are evaluated and determined by testing to be suitable.
5.2.2 Class A head-first dynamic drop test
The dynamic drop test shall be considered successful if
a) the fall of the test mass is arrested in the applicable dynamic drop test as specified in Clause 6.2;
b) the test mass remains suspended after the dynamic drop for a minimum of 2 min;
c) all connectors remain connected; and
d) the fall-arrest indicator has activated to give a permanent, readily visible warning.CSA Z259.10 pdf download.
