ASME Y14.6-2001 pdf download.SCREW THREAD REPRESENTATION.
22.3 Dryseal Pipe Thread Series. Dryseal pipe threads are specified in ASME B1.20.3. Included are tpper dryseal pipe threads designated NPTF-1, NPIF- 2. and PIF-SAE Short Series. See Table 1 for designa tions and definitions. NOTE aremal straight dryeal pipe theeads NPSF ad NPSI a o incbuded in ASME B1.20.3.
2.3 Acme Threads Acme SCTeW thread drawing practics are based on ASME B1.5. Included are general purpose threads, where there is clearance on fanks and a majo/minor damcters, and centralizing threads, where clearance at the major diameter is limited. See Table 1. 2.4 Stub Acme Threads Sub Acme SCrEW thread drawing prectices are based on ASME B1.8. See Table 1. 25 Buttress Threads Butress screw thread drawing practices are based on ASME B19. The Buttress thread is designated "BUTT" for extermal thread pulls or“PUSH-BUTT for extemal thread pushes. See Table 1.
3 REQUIREMENTS Representabion, specifcation, and dimensioning of threads shall be in accordance with the following para- graphs.
3.1 Thread Representation Three methods in general use for represening screw hreads on drawings are a follows: simplifed in Fg. 1, schematie in Fig, 2, and detaled in Fig 3. One method is generally used within any one drawing. When required, all three methods may be used. See Figs. 4 and 5.
3.1.1 Simlfted Representation. The simplied drawing method is recommended for straigh and lapered 60 deg form, Acme, Stub Acme, Butress helical coil insert, and other thread forms cxcepl where detailed representations are required. Sce para. 3.1.3 and Figes. 1.6.7,and B.
.3.2.1.1 For 60 deg inch threads, the thread designa- tion should include, in seoquence, the Boninal diameter in inches, the number of threads per inch, the letter symbol of the hread series, the mumber and ltter of the hread ciass, and any qualifying information. For muliple start threads, replace the number of threads per inch with pich in inches (P, lead in inches (L), and the number of slarts in parenthescs. Am alermate designation method for muliple sian hre ds retains the oumber of threads (pitches) per inch and adds lead in inches (4) and number of starts in parentheses following i For 60 deg metrie threads, the thread designation should include in sequence, the mctric threadform identificr (M or MJ), the nominal diamcter in millime- ters, a lowercase“x," the pich in millimeicrs [or for multiple start threads, L (ead in millimeicrs), P (pitch in millimeten), and number of stars in parcenthesesl, pitch diameter tolerance symbol, crest diameter twolerance symbol (f diferent from thalt of tbe pich diameter),. and any qualifying information. The thread lengh, the hole size, and the chamfer or countersink may be included in the note or dimen- sioned on the drawing of the parl. Thread gaging ystem may be added to the thread designation in parentheses, or otherwise included in a drawing note. Accepiability of SCrEW threads shown om a dnawing shall be in accordance with the designated system, in accordance with ASME B 1.3M.ASME Y14.6 pdf download.
