This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies the carbon steel tubes (hereafter referredto as "tubes"), used for machinery, automobiles, bicycles, furniture, appliances and other machine parts.

3 Grade and symbol
Tubes shall be classified into 22 grades, and their grade symbols and symbols of the manufacturing method shall be as given in table 1.
4 Manufacturing method
The manufacturing method shall be as follows:
a) Tubes shall be manufactured by combination of the tube manufacturing method and the finishing method shown in table 1. If necessary, appropriate heat treatment may be applied to the tube.
b) Tubes may be made using coated steel sheet or coated steel strip, if so requested by the purchaser.
c) Bevel end finishing may be applied under the purchaser's specification, in which case the shape shall be based on the agreement between the manufacturer and the purchaser. For tubes of thickness 22 mm or under, unless otherwise specified, the shape shall be in accordance with figure 1.
5 Chemical composition
Tubes shall be tested in accordance with 9.1 and the heat analysis values shall conform to table 2. When the product analysis is requested by the purchaser, the tube shall be tested in accordance with 9.1 and the results of the analysis shall conform to table 2 within the product analysis tolerances given in table 3 of JIS G 0321, for seamless steel tubes, and within tolerances in table 2 of the same standard, for electric resistance welded and butt welded tubes.JIS G3445 pdf download.
